Peace Temple Community Garden
Founded in October 2013 by Angel Cooper, Peace Temple Community Garden is dedicated to improving the local community through the education of sustainable farming and living. We are a registered non-profit through Communities for a Sustainable Monterey County. Keeping in mind the Portland, OR model of gardening (that a 20 foot by 20 foot plot can feed a family of 4) we have a total of 40 plots that compose our garden. The plots surround a community area that contains a 40 foot diameter peace sign pollinating and herb garden. Thanks to the generosity of a local beekeeper and existing gardeners we now have 2 thriving honeybee hives that are helping contribute to pollinating the gardens as well as providing education to the public on the importance and benefits of bees.
